Here’s one of the girls at the orphanage in Guatemala where we spent last week working. These girls come from very abusive or broken homes and are ineligible for adoption for various reasons, so the courts try to send them to these orphanages if there is space (which often there is not).

Why are these girls ineligible for adoption?
I don’t know everything that could cause ineligility but for example I think that the parents have to be willing to put the child up for adoption; many of these children come from abusive homes and their parents wouldn’t sign the papers for that.
